Ubisoft took the stage at E3 to announce new games, DLC, and to shed more light on already announced games. THE DIVISION 2, FOR HONOR, and RAINBOW SIX SIEGE are the three big games receiving content in the near future. Six new games were also revealed during the Ubisoft E3 press conference.
Ubisoft E3 Press Conference: WATCH DOGS LEGION
One of the new games announced was WATCH DOGS LEGION. The game allows players to play as anyone within the game. Last week’s leaks were true: The game takes place in the near future of London and you can play as anyone within the game. CTOS has run rampant in the city.
The government has become hungry and militaristic. Heavily armed drones fill the streets, deportation facilities prep people before being exiled, and black markets have become the norm. The resistance, also known as DeadSec from previous games, will need to build a network of people to topple the enemy.
Players can build resistance by scanning characters around the world. Like past installments, the game will give a few pieces of information about the person. In the gameplay demo, which you can watch below, the current character is searching for someone who is effective against drones. He eventually finds someone, but at the cost of his life. Permadeath is an important mechanic within the game. You have a network of characters to choose from so be wary of who you pick and the danger you get into.
WATCH DOGS LEGION releases March 6, 2020.
RAINBOW SIX QUARANTINE
RAINBOW SIX QUARANTINE is another game that was revealed at the Ubisoft E3 press conference. The short cinematic trailer showed off an infected person being rescued by the Rainbow Six squad. The new game harps back on the quarantined event last year, RAINBOW SIX QUARANTINE will be released in early 2020 and will feature the player co-op. The parasite players will be dealing with is “unknown and devastating” so be wary. Nothing else is known about this game but we will be sure to update you in the future.
THE DIVISION 2 Year One Content
THE DIVISION 2 will be receiving its first content drop of three in July. Episode one, D.C. Ouskirrts Expedition, will take players to places like the National Zoo and Kenly College. These locations will take players outside of the Washington D.C. area. The second episode will be released in the fall. Episode 2 will take players to the “Last Castle” or the Pentagon. The second episode will also bring the newest eight-player raid.
The last episode will take players back to New York. A short teaser was released to shed some light on the episode but no other information was given. For players who have not yet tried out THE DIVISION 2, you can try starting June 13th to the 16th for free.
GHOST RECON: BREAKPOINT
More light was shed on the already announced GHOST RECON BREAKPOINT. The game follows the Ghost Recon team taking on Cold D. Walker, an ex-ghost member. Walker leads a team known as the Wolves. They are all previous ghost members who have felt betrayed by the organization. THE PUNISHER actor Jon Bernthal informed audience members of his role as Walker and what his intentions were.
A new community program has been announced alongside the newly revealing trailers. Ghost Recon Delta Company will allow fans to connect with each other and the developers behind the game. Ubisoft will also pull from that platform to inspire future content after launch.
Furthermore, people are able to register for the beta now for a chance to participate in the beta on September 5. GHOST RECON: BREAKPOINT releases on October 4.
UPlay+ Subscription Service
Subscription services are becoming more and more popular for video games. Ubisoft announced UPlay+ for the PC. Subscribers will have access to more than 100 games starting in September. The service starts out at $14.99 per month. Every game will include all the DLC and new titles will be included. Older games are also on the list such as the ASSASSIN’S CREED titles and SPLINTER CELL.
A TV Show and a Movie
Video games were not the only focus at the Ubisoft E3 press conference. Earlier in the conference, Rob McElhenney, a cast member of ITS ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, announced a new television series coming to Apple TV+ in cooperation with Ubisoft.
The premise of the show follows a video game developer team of a worldwide popular game, Mythic Quest. The team is working on its first big DLC content for the game titled, Raven Banquet. The show is a comedy and will focus on Ian Grimm McElhenney’s character as the creative director.
Then, at the end of THE DIVISION 2 talk, Ubisoft announced their partnership with Netflix to produce their DIVISON movie. The movie will star Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain. David Leitch, director of DEADPOOL 2, will direct the film.
